After a fantastic first season with over 2,500 visitors to the Heritage Centre since April it is now time to plan for 2015.
Running a centre such as ours is not without costs. To maintain and improve the current provision we will need to do some fundraising! In addition we would like to be able to offer more help to those undertaking family and local history research.
We have a great team of volunteers ‘staffing’ the centre. There are usually two on duty in the morning and another two in the afternoon, but we are always looking to swell their numbers. We are also looking to expand our activities to include:
- undertaking local history research
- helping others to do house or family history research
During the winter the Centre will be open on a limited basis till we reopen at the end of March 2015 in time for the Easter holidays. Before This we will update Volunteers on the historical aspects of the Heritage Centre such as the Merchant’s House and local history research. There will also be refresher training on the operational side of the centre such as using the till, security etc. and the opportunity to go on another Town History Walk.
Winter Opening hours
Tuesdays 10.30am – 3 pm, Saturdays 10.30 am – 1 pm throughout November and till Christmas. There will be two volunteer shifts on Tuesdays from 10.30 am-1 pm and 1 pm – 3 pm.
If you feel you would like to get involved in ‘staffing’ the centre or in one of the above on either a regular or ad-hoc basis please contact me. Find out more about becoming a Member.
