The Devon History Service Point in Colyton is 25 years old. To celebrate this important milestone, the Colyton Heritage Centre will be holding a special open day on Thursday, 19th June, beginning at 10.30 am.
Brian Carpenter, Education and Community Officer for Devon Heritage Services, will open proceedings by speaking about the importance of this key local history service point.
He will be followed by three local history experts. Colin Pady, a Feoffee and Parish Councillor, will speak about the history of the Chamber of Feoffees and the contribution it has made to the development of Colyton over the centuries.
John Cochrane will speak about the nationally important collection of Feoffee records and why the CPHS is applying to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a grant to digitise and transcribe the records.
Finally, John Forrester Addie will speak about how to begin researching your family history and investigating the history of your house.
All are welcome to attend this free event but please RSVP to Shirley Campbell Brown if you are able to come on s.campbellbrown@btinternet.com or telephone 01297 553557.
